Hobos Tuesday, Jan 6 2009

Tim had told me about Hobos a couple of times since we’ve been married. To be honest, they didn’t sound all that great. But I recently had some red potatoes in my refrigerator that had to be used up, so I thought I would give them a try. This is the recipe I followed and below is what actually went into mine… :-)

1 pound of ground beef
1 cup of bread crumbs (I toasted a piece of bread and then put it through my blender)
1 egg
1/4 cup of lemon juice
1 cup of grated cheddar and jack cheese
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
4 red potatoes, sliced thin
4 carrots, sliced

I meant to take a picture of our hobos, but I didn’t get the camera out in time. :-) I thought they were terrific and I will definitely be making these again.

Picture :-) Thursday, Jan 1 2009

I never would have thought to give my sister this gift, but she mentioned wanting a print of this picture that Tim took a few years ago. So we had an 8 x 10 made of it, found a nice frame and had a nice gift to give her. :-)

Cupcake Kit Thursday, Jan 1 2009

I found this idea on a blog as well and Tim and I both thought his younger sister would enjoy this. We simply bought what she would need to make cupcakes. A cupcake mix, frosting, sprinkles and icing to write on the cupcakes.

I Spy Bottle Thursday, Jan 1 2009

Tim and I gave this neat gift to his younger brother. I was planning to go ahead and make the “I Spy” bottle but then Tim suggested that his brother might prefer to actually put it together himself. So we ended up getting him the supplies he needs to make one. :-) To find directions on how to make it, check out this post…

Handprint Christmas Ornaments Thursday, Jan 1 2009

img_9253

This is what Drew and I made to give his grandmothers. I originally saw this idea on another blog and thought it would be fun to give it a try. :-)

You need Crayola Model Magic. I bought mine online at Target I think it was. And I bought it with glitter already in it. (The post I found had you add glitter after making the handprint.) I rolled it out, pressed in Drew’s handprint (he really wanted to be able to play with it! :-) ), made a hole in the top and tied a red ribbon through it. They turned out really nice, although Drew had fun digging his fingers into the one on the left. :-)
