Fruits and Veggies Thursday, May 28 2009

IMG_0135

I’ve enjoyed buying and eating different varietes of fruits and vegetables. It’s sometimes hard to take the extra effort required to make some side dishes to go with dinner. By the time evening gets here, I’m ready to just be in and out of the kitchen! :-) But I’m starting to really enjoy fruits and vegetables with my dinner. :-)

So for dinner last night I fixed…

Hot Hoagies
Watermelon
Blackberries
Corn

It was all very delicous!! :-)

Tim is my best friend. And he has been so patient and sweet with me over the past month. :-)

Making meals, snacks and lunches while nine months pregnant is difficult, especially with the hot weather we’ve been having. Let’s just say I’ve been lacking desire and movtivation to be in the kitchen baking and cooking.

So Tim has been so sweet. He hasn’t complained about the meals that aren’t always up to par. He makes himself snacks in the evening and doesn’t make me feel bad for not having made a GREAT dinner. He enjoys his lunches every day.

Thank you, Love, for being understanding during the last month. :-) You’re the sweetest man in the world!!!

Child Training

I’ve wondered how to go about teaching Drew so I really enjoyed this post. It’s amazing the things Drew has learned and it will be fun to incorporate some of these ideas with him. :-)

This was a convicting post on consistent Biblical training. It’s easy to let a little something go when I don’t feel like training Drew, but that doesn’t work out to well in the end. Actually I start seeing the consequences of it pretty quickly. :-)

How can I expose Drew to God’s truth when he doesn’t even talk? This post shares some practical ways to do just that.

Homemaking

It’s easy to look at what other wives/moms are able to do and wish that I was able to do that as well. So this post reminded me that although I’m not out and about too much (there’s no way I could be gone a lot, since we only have one car… :-) , being a godly keeper at home is about the heart attitude.

Crafts

These baby blocks are so cute! They look like the would be so much fun to make and I know that Drew would enjoy playing with something like this.

I think this bag is very cute.

This tea wallet idea would be great to give as a gift…and one I would love to have! :-)

Kitchen

This method of cooking ahead looks like it would be a great time saver. Cooking once a month can be a little overwhelming, but this seems doable! :-)

Grilled Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches Tuesday, May 19 2009

Cheese steak sandwiches sounded soooo good to me during my last trimester. However, I didn’t want to spend the money to buy the necessary meat. I was beyond thrilled when I was given some free meat that was just perfect for these Grilled Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches. These sandwiches were very good! And my “craving” was satisfied….

Eat More Fruits and Veggies Thursday, May 14 2009

I know that we don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables. I often lack the inspiration to go through the extra effort to prepare fruits and vegetables in an attractive way to eat. :-) So when Laura posted on her blog about hosting an “eat more fruits and vegetables challenge” I thought it would be fun to join in…hoping she would post some fun and easy recipes to help me out. AND it gives me something to focus on while I wait for this baby to decide to come. :-)

So…for dinner on Tuesday night I had Pot Pie planned. I decided to try and really pile in the veggies. (I did add in some leftover turkey that was sitting in my refrigerator.) Carrots, onions, corn and red potatoes were the vegetables that were on sale. And they made for a really great pot pie!! (Unfortunately I forgot to grab the camera before we sat down to eat! :-( )

When I saw this, I knew how I wanted to use some of the strawberries in my refrigerator. So I made waffles for breakfast yesterday. Yummy!

Napping with Your Toddler Wednesday, May 13 2009

I find it very difficult to sleep/nap in the same room as Drew. While he sleeps really well, I just can’t relax with all the “sleeping” noises he makes. :-)   I used to take naps on our couch during the day, but with the hotter weather sleeping on a leather couch is MISERABLE! So Tim came up with this brilliant idea…sleep with my iPod. :-)

I love music. And I’ve always been able to nap better with some quiet noise/talking in the background. So I just pick an album on my iPod, hit play and rest. Usually this helps me to fall asleep fairly quickly…and it helps to block out any noises that Drew might be making. :-)

Sleeping with my iPod definitely works for me right now! :-)

Family of Three Wednesday, May 13 2009

Knowing that our days as a family of three were drawing to a close, we decided to have a quick photo session with Drew last weekend. Although he didn’t seem to be too interested in sitting still for the camera! :-)
